We know that agency is present when students find their voice, action their choices and reflect on their learning. This means students are valued as active learners in the why, what, when and where they play. But how does this happen?

As we learn to listen with both heart and mind to our youngest learners, our use of questions during children’s play becomes more intentional and purposeful. These questions serve as one way to collaborate with our students and to promote agency as our relationship becomes one of learning partnerships.

Knowing the impact, this session is framed around the why, what and how of listening and asking questions in children’s play.
