Student Voices: Act Today to Change Tomorrow - Impacting Communities Around Us

Leaving a traditional education system to attend an IB World School is a monumental step for our Uzbek scholarship students. Not only are they encountering a new educational philosophy, but they are also learning in a language that is not theirs: English.

With continuous support, these multilingual learners have demonstrated student agency and achievements of their own. Project Red animated cartoon in Uzbek and English, shown now across centers, raises awareness of the controversial topic of HIV. What started as an individual project has now become a group of engaged and passionate students.

The bilingual Aral Sea Story: The Sea is Gone but the People Remain, focuses on the emotional journey between language and identity, and how people affect the environment.

These are just two of the projects to be highlighted. Video clips, pictures and reflections will be shared to demonstrate the many facets of student agency.
