Space Travel and the Beatles– Why Innovation Cannot Be Separated from Vulnerability, Mistakes and Uncertainty

Presenter: Myron Dueck

Conference Workshop

We all make mistakes, at times we struggle and some days are better than others - and we learn from these things. Perhaps we need to better incorporate the value of struggle into our educational philosophy. As Brene Brown states in Daring Greatly, "When failure is not an option we can forget about learning, creativity and innovation".

By peeling back the layers of truly great accomplishments, we will find that risk was an integral part of the both the journey and the outcome. We can learn from NASA, the Fab Four and other historical greats to inspire us to deepen the learning experience for our students.
