Presented by: Casie Gaebler and Jordan Moog | American Community School of Abu Dhabi

This workshop connects to all three Conference strands:
– Collaboration: simulations allow students to collaborate, build consensus and shared understanding, and have their voices heard and acknowledged.
– Equity: simulations help students empathize with others from different backgrounds, understand different perspectives, and allow students to develop and showcase their unique strengths.
– Innovation: simulations are a form of project-based learning that promote student agency and self efficacy.

Participants will leave with an understanding of the value of simulations for increasing student engagement, empowerment, and empathy. They will learn best practices and concrete strategies for using simulations effectively and how to avoid common pitfalls and stereotyping when using simulations. Participants will receive a trove of resources from the presenters and connect with other attendees to continue to share and learn from one another.
