Presented by: Sara Kirby and Tamara Black | American International School of Zagreb

Our role as educators is to ensure that all children become proficient readers in order to set them up for the most successful future possible. The mission at the American International School of Zagreb is: “We develop skills and character for futures rich with promise”. Tjhe school strives for every student to become proficient in the skills required for reading success.

Over the past couple of years, educators at AISZ have become aware of recent brain research with new insight into how children learn to read, and started the process of aligning our practice to this research.

In this workshop, the presenters will share what they are learning from the current reading research and how they’ve begun the journey in aligning our approach to literacy learning.

They will share the process of refining their literacy program through collaboration among teachers and staff, a commitment to a robust, research-based literacy program, and partnering with parents in their children’s literacy development.
